It is interesting that some government sites promote the use of recycled building materials when most councils ban their inclusion in new building works. At home try mulching and composting. I recently bought a petrol powered wood chipper so I can make my own mulches and save water and money. We have never thrown out any vegetable scraps, all of them get composted so they are returned to the soil. Our once horrible stony clay soil is now rich in nutrients and a haven for worms.
